WebRagland’s sister, Brandie Robinson, earlier this year filed the lawsuit, alleging excessive force and wrongful death. The lawsuit also accused the city of condoning excessive force, failing to properly train police to deal with people who are mentally ill, and failing to hold officers accountable. In May 2024, Crystal Ragland was shot by officers after residents say she was pointing a gun at people from inside her apartment. Two weeks ago, a federal judge dismissed the wrongful death suit filed in this case by Ragland’s sister Brandie Robinson. The wrongful death lawsuit was filed in May 2024.
